Our mission at Grace's Oasis is to provide a safe, caring environment designed to enhance the independence, self-esteem, and dignity of young adults with developmental disabilities through person-centered planning and meaningful interaction.
Grace’s Oasis was created to provide much needed day services and companionship for adults with developmental disabilities. The idea came about as we began to have great concern for our own daughter, who is on the autism spectrum, regarding her care and wellbeing after she ages out of the school system. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun “Oasis” for these truly remarkable individuals to thrive during that time of day when caregivers must attend to other aspects of life. The owners are a registered nurse with a bachelor's degree and 15-years experience and a licensed state of Indiana teacher with 15 years experience who holds a degree in social science.

2024 has seen many changes to Grace’s Oasis. Starting with relocation to our new location in Fishers Indiana. While our previous location was adequate initially, it proved to be expensive and inefficient to operate. While our current new location offers less square footage, it allows for better use of space for a much reduced rent. It is also more conveniently located closer to activities in the Indianapolis metro area.
Problem: How do we continue to deliver services and make the best use of our new space.
S.W.O.T. Analysis
Strengths: Due to the decrease in operating costs afforded by our new facility, we are more confident in our ability to expand our services. We were immediately able to expand our transportation services to be more accommodating to current participants. Our new location also allows for more outdoor activities due to nearby walking trails. We have also begun to use Excel software to track our budget and explore opportunities for improvement.
Weaknesses: One weakness that has been identified is limited response to surveys sent to persons served and other potential stakeholders. We continually seek input from others to serve as a measuring stick and aid in the evaluation process of our facility. As a service provider, we rely on this input to insure that we are continuing to improve.
Opportunities: Grace’s Oasis has begun to inform participants to loo out for annual surveys prior to them being sent. We stress the importance of everyone’s input in helping us maintain the highest level of care. We have also placed a suggestion box on site in the building near the entrance to allow others to provide input as well.
Threats: Continuing economic uncertainty
Goals: Increase survey participation and seek alternate means of gathering data to assist in providing services that are useful to our participant population. Data gathered will be used to insure that our services remain relevant and appropriate.
Persons Served: Annual satisfaction surveys and exit surveys continue to be utilized to provide valuable information that can be used to provide services that are inline with participant’s needs. We have also implemented a suggestion box on site in our facility to provide another avenue for others to make comments and suggestions.
